How we use sources

Each question states its scope, including a season or cutoff where needed. Sources provide the factual basis for the answer set; editorial points are assigned by this site and are not taken from the sources as popularity statistics.

Data attribution

Player statistics, schedules and draft data are derived from nflverse data releases. Schedule data is maintained by Lee Sharpe; draft data includes material from Pro Football Reference. We transform the source data into question-specific answer sets and add our own editorial scores. These question-and-answer sets are modified from those datasets. See the nflverse licensing notice and CC BY 4.0, as well as the individual releases for source-specific notices.

Scoring references

Recognition estimates use available evidence such as NFLPA licensed-product sales, Wikimedia pageviews, career records and editorial review. These are imperfect, time-limited visibility indicators, not in-game answer frequencies. When independent attention data is unavailable, a neutral, lower-confidence estimate is used. The highest estimated rarity tier in each question receives 100 points. Check an answer in Answer Lab to see its available scoring references.

Updates and corrections

NFL records can change, and coverage is limited by the dates and sources shown with each question. A correction can lead to a new version of the question bank.
