How scoring works
The goal is to think past the first obvious name, while staying inside the question's scope.
One answer per round
Each accepted answer has a fixed point value. Less obvious names generally earn more points. A correct answer ends the round; an expired or skipped round earns zero. There is no speed bonus.
Editorial points, not a popularity poll
Scores are preassigned editorial estimates relative to other answers in each question. Where available, we consider recognition indicators such as licensed merchandise rankings, career honors, and editorial judgment. These indicators are imperfect, and some names do not have an independently measured recognition level. They are not real-time statistics, percentages of players who gave an answer, official league ratings or measures of a person's playing ability.
Seven rounds, 700 possible points
Each question has at least one 100-point answer. That score is relative to the other answers to the same question; it does not mean the answer is obscure in absolute terms. Seven 100-point answers make a perfect 700. First and best Daily completions are stored separately, so replaying will not overwrite your first result.
Question versions
Football records change over time. A question's stated cutoff or season determines which answers qualify. Corrections and new material may be published as a new question-bank version.
